Promoting opportunities for women in Orkney
We challenged the idea that women need to move away from Orkney in order to have a global career or access to job opportunities in STEM industries, and were featured in The Orcadian, our local newspaper.
Fiona Morgan, our Company Secretary & Lawyer, instrumental to Kyloe’s set-up in 2015 was able to continue her profession in Orkney after a five-year career in London. Since then, Kyloe has welcomed other Orcadian women who have followed the same steps and joined the growing team of over 55 members globally.
Lauren Miller, Marketing Manager said: “I’d been living away from Orkney for 16 years, including a stint in New York and then London for six years. I didn’t think moving back home to Orkney was an option if I wanted to continue my career growth as part of a global company, as opportunities had been rare in the past.
“Orkney has one of the highest employment rates in Scotland, yet one of the worst gender pay gaps, partly due to males dominating the higher paid jobs. Kyloe not only offers opportunities for women in tech but the chance to work with clients from all over the world, and at an equal rate of pay to our male counterparts.”
