Custom Fields
What makes Bullhorn such a successful platform for any recruitment business is that its standard product is easily customisable. This is without the need for any extra coding. One of those functions is custom fields. The details recruiters require on their candidates and placements varies per sector and country. Custom fields are a great way of capturing data that isn’t in a standard field in Bullhorn.
To give you some inspiration, we’ve summed up some examples of how you can use your custom fields in Bullhorn.
- Capture complicated payment structures
- Multi regional information, e.g. the right to work and nationality
- Most recent response/contact
- Track extra data needed to start/run different background checks for clients
- Invoicing data on the placement
- We are looking to add some fields for alternative approvers against a timesheet
- Qualifying questions in the pre-screening process, then creating a custom card that can be reported and searched on
- Data on how and why a candidate has contacted us, using a drop down for consultants to log a reason why the candidate called in i.e. googled us, referral from friend
Extra Custom Fields in Bullhorn
Several of our clients rely heavily on custom fields and even ran out of space. Bullhorn, however, has made space for extra custom fields. This inspired us to ask several of our clients what they would use extra custom fields for.
Jessica Anderson from JurisTemps would use the Tracking custom information for the tracking of custom info on qualification for bonuses and employee appreciation notes, e.g. birthday, company anniversary for candidates. For placements she would track alternate timesheet approvers and supervisors.
Dennis van Weeren from Vibe Group came up with a totally different approach. At Vibe Group when candidates or placements visit the office, they can get a coffee from the barista. Dennis’ idea was to use Custom Fields to register how they have their tea or coffee.
Once they sign in at reception, the barista gets a nudge and has the right information to create their favourite warm beverage. They will be served their coffee while they wait for their appointment. That’s what you call a very warm welcome!
