On the 30th August we’ll be saying bye to our ‘Class of 2019’ summer interns; the fourth batch of students to take part in our summer programme.
Before they leave us, we took the chance to have a quick coffee and hear about how their summer with Kyloe has been, and what comes next.
Lauren Miller: How does working here compare with what you expected?
Bethany Jarvis: I had a sense that the team were going to be friendly through my contact with HR before the start of my placement and I wasn’t wrong! It’s quite a relaxed atmosphere, which is really nice.
Erika Hutchison: I’ve had the chance to get involved in a far wider range of tasks that I expected; the mixture of projects has help change things up and the days go really fast!
How do you feel working at Kyloe has helped you for future?
Ben Banerjee-Richards: It’s provided me with an insight into what working as a software developer in an office is like, which will be very useful to me when I graduate next year.
EH: I’ve learned a lot; it’s given me real life experience of the things I learned in school (like databases and websites), my confidence has improved, I have an understanding of how office life works, and my organisational skills are better.
Highlight of your time at Kyloe?
BBR: We had a computer games night in the office about a month ago which was really fun
BJ: Probably the monthly Town Hall meetings with the whole (or most of the) company – it’s really interesting to see the progress that the company is making globally.
EH: I think for me it’s coming in and not knowing exactly what I’ll be doing each day.
What are you going to do after the summer?
BBR: Going back to university for my final year of studying computer science.
BJ: A year-long HNC Business course. I’m also considering continuing at the college for an additional three years and gaining a degree in business management.
EH: I’ll be studying computer science at Robert Gordon University
LM: Good luck with your studies; it’s been our pleasure having you here and we wish you all the success in the future – keep in touch!
Kyloe’s 2020 internship programme is planned to open up for applications this December. Anyone interested in applying should keep an eye out on our Join Us page, nearer the time.
