Bullhorn Live has now turned into the global staffing and recruitment conference series Engage, making it even more spectacular. During this year’s event we heard from amazing speakers, all touching on the Power of People, which really grounded us all. Topics covered during Engage were Bullhorn’s new features to Neuroscience in recruitment, and from Brexit to marathon running. Here are my highlights of the First ever Bullhorn Engage London!
Inspirational Women
From Laura Kuenssberg (BBC News, Journalist of the year) giving her views on how politics works to Paula Radcliffe (World’s Fastest Female Marathon Runner) on how hard it was to be injured going into the Olympics, the speakers at Engage were incredibly inspiring. Whether Paula inspired many to start or continue running, or to aim for the moon when it comes to their recruitment dreams, we were all left with some sort of inspiration to get more from our careers or personal lives.
The Recipe for Success
Another speaker at Engage was Dr. Marcia Goddard, a Neuroscientist from Young Capital recruitment. If this combination confuses you, you’re not alone. A Neuroscientist at a recruitment agency is not a common thing.
Recruitment is all about people, behaviour and patterns. What makes a candidate great for the job? What patterns can we find in the behaviour of candidates? Neuroscience is great to find out how a candidate’s mind really works, unlike most of the existing testing systems which are based on IQ, says Dr. Goddard.
The recipe for success is based on various aspects. Successful people embrace failure and use this for growth. The environment, however, plays another big role as it impacts how a group of people deal with situations. If your company does not support failure, then everyone is less likely to take risks. At Kyloe we dare to take risks and, if we make a mistake, pull together to learn from it.
New Bullhorn Features
One of the most exciting sessions was the Newest Features and What’s Coming Soon session. We got an overview of features released so far and what will be released now and the end of the year, well done Jake Kaya.
For us, one of the most popular changes will be the announcement of more fields for candidates and placements. Many of our clients have already started thinking of how they can utilise these fields to make their Bullhorn an even more efficient platform.
Another big highlight is the native mobile app for Bullhorn which is coming soon. So, keep an eye on your app stores!
Speaking the Millennial Language
Millennials are the next generation up to dominate the work floor. During Engage many speakers focused on the changes that are happening to behaviours and environment at work. As Simon Cleaver from CloudCall addressed, 65% of millennials prefer texting to calling. If you want to connect with them, you need to speak their language and make sure that this type of communication gets recorded in your CRM.
Phillip Ullman from Cordant Group strongly connects with the millennial way of thinking. “The millennial model is not philanthropical – the model it’s based around giving. To improve the world, not to make money, but fundamentally about improving the world.” It’s all about the common good, and this is what Millennials want to identify with. To attract new candidates, you will need to make sure your company connects with the new workforce. There are few better ways to do this than finding people work.
Amazing Marketplace Partners
Engage was sponsored by over 20 marketplace partners who all got to exhibit at the event. From recruitment marketing to consulting, there were many solutions to integrate with Bullhorn or to get you more from Bullhorn. Of course, Kyloe was present, with Leigh Clarke presenting for us at this year’s Marketplace Speed pitch. If you’re interested in finding out more about the marketplace partners, click here.
We can’t wait to see what Engage London 2019 will bring! Find out more about next year’s event here.
